Types of horse sounds
- Neigh and whinny: the classic horse call, from a single short whinny to a big, loud neigh.
- Galloping and running: hooves at full speed, including horses galloping past from left to right. Great for chases and westerns.
- Trotting and walking: slower hoof rhythms on dirt and on pavement.
- Snorts and grunts: breathing and grunting sounds that bring a horse close to the camera.
- Horse and cart: carriages and wagons for historical scenes, farms and old towns.
- Horse races and parades: race crowds, a bugle call and horses in a parade.
Using horse sounds
For a western or a medieval scene, combine galloping hooves with a whinny at the start or the end of the shot. A horse running from left to right helps sell movement on screen. For kids' content and cartoons, try the horse impersonation, a funny human imitation of a neigh.
Need just the neigh? Open the sound in the free Audio Cutter, trim it and export it as MP3 or WAV. A short neigh also makes a fun ringtone with the Ringtone Maker.
